A point to consider: If people are meant to be atomized free peoples, why is national identity and consciousness such a charged subject for many, something where insults are taken very seriously, often legally punished in many nation-states? (Something to be seen in relation to those who claim that Islam takes itself “too seriously” and wrongly punishes for insults and blasphemy).
